For what purpose? If you are like most people, the ultimate reason was to retire in X amount of years, right?…
Wrong!… Well, ”wrong” for 95% of us at least!
Why ? Because of the contract you’ve signed right before you gave all your personal info to the company.
If you say that you never signed a contract, think again…
”Check the box if you agree with the policies and procedures”… does that ring a bell?
All legal companies have a contract that by law you need to sign.
If you look for it, it should be on the first page of the companies corporate website…or not.
I said it should be for a reason. Not? Well, here is your first red flag…
Not to confuse ”policies and procedures” with ”terms and conditions”. They are two separate things.

- Sometimes companies require that you sign up before you can see the contract. That is absolutely insane.
Translation: ”Give me your money and only then I’ll tell you if this business model works in your best interest or not.”
* How long is your contract?
The longer the contract, the greater the possibility that the policies important to you are being hidden in “Legalese”. The writers of your contract ( usually lawyers) know that most people lose focus after reading the first few pages so the worst stuff is on the last few pages.

* Do you have a ”yearly contract renewal”? If you do, did you know that the company has the right to not renew your contract?

* Do you have the word ”termination” in your contract? That should not be there. Period!
”With or without cause” ? That means that they could pretty much terminate you for any reason including but not limited to you being too tall or too short.

* Do you have the word ”ongoing” ? It could be ”ongoing selling”, ”ongoing training”, ”ongoing motivation”, ”ongoing communication with your downline”…
Not just that, you also need to provide the company with proof of your ongoing communication. You have to start using a file cabinet and fill it out with the proofs of all the e-mails and phone calls between you and your downline.
And you better have all that available if someone asks for it, otherwise you can be terminated.
Translation: You could never retire, you’ll have to constantly motivate, recruit and sell till the day you die.

* Sometimes the company can terminate you ”if you violate the policies and procedures or for any other reason”, at their ”sole discretion”, ”with or without written notice”.
Translation: They don’t have to tell you why they’ve stopped paying you, and if you go to court you have nothing in your hands to prove anything.

* How about the ”actions of household members”? Why would you be held responsible for what your spouse (that is not part of your business) says or does?

* ”Succession”?
Did you ever wonder what happens to your bonuses if something happens to you? Well, it might say in the contract that your successors ”must qualify”.
Translation: If they don’t continue selling, recruiting etc…, then they lose all your hard earned money.

Did you just say ”they would not do that to me”? Oh…but they can and they will!…
They did it in the past and they’ll do it again!
If they don’t mean it, then why is it there?

I understand that the company needs to be protected, but how about you and I? Who is protecting us?
Answer: No one but our due diligence before we join.
Make sure that your company has your best interest at heart! A contract should be a two way street. Does this contract protect you or the company?

Oh, and one more thing. If it so happens that you want to sue them, you might not have the right to a trial by jury, or, you might have signed that you don’t hold them responsible…

One of the things we have to learn in this business is to discipline our disappointments.
I know how hard that is, I’ve been there.
I still have keep that in mind when things don’t go as well as they should. It’s life!
When we don’t get what we want and get it fast, what is the first thing that comes to mind?
”I’m going to quit”. That is being followed by ”this does not work”…

I remember my ”I’m going to quit” moment. It was December 2007. I started my business three months earlier. I worked hard every day to get prospects. Nothing happened until that December morning.
I logged in my back office and I saw the e-mail I’ve been waiting for :
”Daniela Riess, you have a prospect!”
I felt like I’m going to faint. I was so excited that my heart started pounding. And then, with my hands shaking I opened my e-mail, scrolled down with a huge smile on my face,
and there was my prospect:

First name: Pewee
Last name: Herman
Phone number: 123-12-1234
City : Unknown
Address Unknown
Zip Unknown
Country US

My smile disappeared.
All the negative emotions took over.
The disappointment and anger I felt were overwhelming.
”This is ridiculous” I said to myself… ” I can’t believe this is happening…
All that work I put myself thru and for what? Peewee Herman? You got to be kidding me…”
I cried the blues and felt sorry for myself for about an hour. I wanted to quit so bad.
”This is so not worth my time” I said out loud.

I had two choices at that moment. One was to quit and another was to keep going. I remembered reading Napoleon Hill’s book Think And Grow Rich.
Have you? If yes, do you remember the chapter that tells the ”3 feet from the gold story” ?
That was exactly where I was standing, 3 feet from the gold.

I decided to keep going…
It makes so much sense when it is said that success is often disguised in temporary defeat.
Just when you think it’s over, you decide to take one more step, and then…your life starts to change for the better.
But we have to take that extra step and that is one of the hardest thing you’ll ever have to do, I promise you. Your feet are so heavy and you so very tired and disappointing.
It feels like you just hit a brick wall and there is no way of moving forward.
And then you remember that you have to discipline your disappointments. You remember the 3 feet from the gold story.

So, my friend, have you been there? What kind of decision did you make ( if any ) when that happened to you?
Here are a few things that you might want to remember if Pee Wee Herman comes along:

#1. Discipline your disappointments.
#2. Beat temporary defeat at it’s own game by taking that extra step.
#3. When you do something often enough, a ratio will appear.
#4. Once a ratio appears, it tends to continue…

Is that really the true key to happiness? Or maybe Giving Without Want is the answer?

A product picture or link covering YOU.INC might be just like a tattoo that you regret getting 10 years later.

Your name stays the same. A picture of you attached to the name would be great to have.
People do have a photographic memory, and if you stay long enough in one place they will remember you.

Are you holding on to ”the grass is greener on the other side” mentality? I can tell you now that the grass is really greener only if you are educated.
Otherwise, you’ll end up on the same type of lawn, different landlord, and you won’t know the difference.
If you jump from place to place and from company to company, I suggest that you take a break today and look around.
Ask yourself why is that happening…

Did you ever actually due your due diligence before you jumped at… ”ground floor, now is the time” opportunity, or at the… ”we’ve been around for decades and our product gives you wings” opportunity?
And due diligence does not mean listening to what your ”superstar space commander” top income earner tells you every Saturday morning via conference call.
It also does not matter that the companies board of directors came straight from Wall Street. That does not put any money in your pocket…Of course, if you want to, you can find out from them how to make money… on Wall Street.
It’s like going to a dentist for eye surgery. He can be the best dentist in the world but that does not do you any good, does it?

If you did not research, now would be a good time to start…Your life depends on it, I promise you.
Going back to the profile, if nobody told you that branding yourself is the right way, then you definitely don’t have a proven system to follow.

The proven system is not the upline, by the way…
The proven system is an actual system to follow step by step. And not all systems are created equal. Again, that is where due diligence comes into play again…

Education is very important. Put a few hours into learning what works and what does not in this industry.  A few hours go a long way. Your financial future depends on it.

In the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king!

When we first start in Network Marketing the excitement coming from the person enrolling us takes over.
We are most of the times  ”blinded” by hype and we temporarily lose the common sense we otherwise have.

Been there,done that! I remember the first MLM company I’ve joined. Everything was described to  me as easy to do, best product in the world, the company was growing ”faster than Microsoft”…you get the idea.

Chances are that you’ve heard the same stuff when you first started.

Did you make a list of friends and family? I know I did. I ended up signing up half my neighbours. Well, unfortunately they only stayed in ”business” of one month and then…all gone.
I also went to my family and gave them the ”faster than Microsoft” pitch. Most of them looked at me with that ”I feel sorry for you” facial expression.

One of my husband’s friends came by one day about three years ago. After I told her all the ”great stuff ” my company offered and how the product will ”sell itself” she did sign up with one of the top packages.
I was asked the ”what do I do know” question and I answered it the same way my upline answered me:
”Make a list of your friends and family” .
I guess back then the word duplication was not in my vocabulary.

Well, that particular friend/business partner stuck around for about 2 months, on autoship and then she asked me to cancel her account. That’s right, she did not even know how to access her back office herself.
I cancelled her account, I was used to that by then because I had to do it before for other ”business partners”. You see, I was so desperate that I was offering to doing all the work for them after they sign up.

I did not know what ”qualified prospect” meant back then, I was signing up anything with a pulse just like most of the network marketers still do today.

Now let me fast forward about three years later. I went to see my ex business partner yesterday. We talked for awhile and then she came up with an unexpected question :
”Hey, I have a whole box of products left from your company. I never used them, can you get rid of them and get some of my money back? Maybe you could buy them, just make me an offer…”
Now remember, we are talking about 2 year old expired products kept in a Florida garage.
Did that teach me a lesson? Absolutely! Why would I bother my friends and family when there are thousands of people out there looking for me and for what I have to offer? I just wish that I knew three years ago what I know today.

Unfortunately there are still people out there making that ”list”. Why do that when you could learn some basic skills and start using attraction marketing. There are people out the looking for YOU, I promise you that.

Learn to be the hunted instead of the hunter!

I was reading Mike Dillards Magnetic Sponsoring course and he mentioned at some point that family and friends are most likely ”tire kickers” . When our friend asked for her money back that made perfect sense.
She was not looking for me, I was pursuing her instead. I was not in Network Marketing, I was in the Convincing Business.

The point I’m trying to make is that not everyone wants what you have. I know, I know!… You have the best product, company and comp plan. Guess what? It does not matter.
What matters is what skills you have and if you target the right market.
Yes, friends and family might ask YOU about your business later on after they’ve seen a change in your lifestyle.

So find your targeted market and give friends and family a big MLM… break.

Learn the basics of attraction marketing and give your friends a break.

Well, now I get it. I guess it takes a while to understand all your reasons for failure and letting go of the ”me…me…me” attitude was one of hardest ones to correct.

It’s so important in this network marketing industry to understand that serving others without any expectations is what will make us successful.

That probably puts the count at around 15 since this morning.

What’s N.B.T.?”

Ahhh yes…  It stands for the “Next Big Thing”.

And it’s a DISEASE that infects all networkers until they join at least 5 opportunities and never make any money.

Fortunately, it starts to dissipate at that time for some, but will continue to cripple the minds of many for the remainder of their career, killing their chance of ever seeing success.

Today, I hope to immunize you from this disease once and for all…

Understand this, and you will be cured:

* This industry will not save you.

* Your company will not save you.

* Your comp plan will not save you. There is no such thing as a “Turn Key” system you can buy that will make you rich.

* There are thousands of companies that “are growing faster than Microsoft!” (Not just yours…)

* It doesn’t matter if you think you have the greatest product in the world unless you plan on buying $50,000 or more of it per month yourself… (All that matters is what YOUR CUSTOMERS think about it).

You are being sold by expert marketers, (the company leadership), because they know they must truly MOVE your emotions just to get the average Joe to sponsor 2 customers or builders.

Wake up…

This is m-a-r-k-e-t-i-n-g, and YOU are the product of your company.

So here’s the deal…

Lose the emotions. Lose the lottery dreams of The Next Big Thing. This is a BIZ-NESS where only the fittest, (and smartest), survive and thrive.

This is about smart marketing, promotion, and follow up.

Lose the emotion. Get off the roller coaster.

On the flip side, the average networker treats this industry like a weekend stint in front of a Vegas craps table, and as usual, always leaves with empty pockets in the end.

And as they pass by the calling neon signs of the another casino promising the next big jack-pot, they latch on to their sales pitch and hitch their dreams to it, only to be a victim of their own refusal to “wake up”, once again.

Use this knowledge to professionalize your business and discipline your work ethic, and you will start to see results quickly.

STOP looking for the next big thing. Stop paying attention to competing ads.

The grass is NOT greener. If you’re not getting the results you want out of your business today, it’s not the company’s fault, it’s yours.

And just heading over to another company isn’t going to change that. You’re still going to face the same problems there.

Until you learn how to:

1: Build a list.
2: Build a relationship with the people on that list.
3: Market to that list.

You will NEVER get the results you want, no matter how many companies you join.
